Italian sexploitation maestro Tinto Brass (Caligula; Salon Kitty) is back with a new erotic drama, and, like a fine wine, Brass just improves with age. This UK DVD release is completely uncut.
Tinto's trademarks include lush interior cinematography and set design, and of course, surreal dream and sexual fantasy sequences, well directed as only Tinto Brass can do.
Monamour opens with Marta (the gorgeous Anna Jimskaia) and her husband Dario (Max Perodi) making love. The sex ends almost as soon at it begins, as Dario satifies himself immediately, then rolls over and falls asleep. A frustrated Marta pours her heart out in her secret diary.
Marta and Dario have been married for only six months, yet their sex life has gone downhill fast. Now, Marta gets no satisfaction from their lovemaking and Dario doesn't seem to care. But he is a good man and does love her, so Marta has been dealing with the situation as best she can. But her sexual frustration is starting to drive her mad.
One day, while at a museum, a stranger begins taking pictures of Marta while she looks at some erotic paintings. She tries to get away from him, but he sneaks up on her and grabs her. She tries to protest, but he starts kissing her, putting his tongue in her mouth. The stranger's passionate kisses turn Marta on and she starts to return them. Just when it looks like they're about to have sex, a class of high school students walks in. She pushes him away and leaves.
Later, Marta tells Dario about her encounter in the museum, hoping to arouse his sexual passion - or least make him jealous. But he takes it as a joke and dares Marta to wear no panties to the party they're going to, which she does. At the party, Marta runs into the man who acosted her in the museum. She dances with him to make Dario jealous. As Dario watches, the man teases him by groping Marta while they dance and kissing her.
The man then leads Marta into a dark corner and guides her face to his crotch. Some people barge in. One of them is Marta's girlfriend, Silvia (Nela Lucic). Marta pushes the man away again and goes to the ladies' room with Silvia. She tells Silvia about her problems with Dario. Silvia suggests that she take a lover on the side, preferably the man she was just fooling around with. Marta is not too keen about the idea.
When Marta tells Dario about her encounter with the man at the party, he seems both aroused and repelled by the idea of his wife making love to another man. Alas, just when Marta thinks that she has the old, passionate Dario back, she gets more of the same quick, boring, and unsatisfying sex.
The next day, Marta receives a message from her would-be lover from the party. He turns out to be a Frenchman named Leon (Riccardo Molino) and he invites her to have lunch with him - and some dessert that's not on the menu. She decides to accept the invitation. Soon, she embarks on one of the most passionate sexual relationships she's ever had.
Marta records all of her sexual encounters in detail in her secret diary. What she doesn't know is that her diary is no longer secret - Dario has found it and has been reading all about her erotic adventures with Leon. Will these revelations destroy Marta's marriage or rekindle her husband's passion and turn him into the kind of lover she needs?
